Celebrating New Leadership and the Strength of Tasmanian Agriculture

At Strait Forward Consulting, we would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Nathan Cox on his election as President, and Felicity Richards as Vice President, of Tas Farmers.

Leading the peak body for Tasmania’s primary producers is a vital role, especially as the sector continues to drive the engine room of our state's economy.

We also want to pause and recognise the immense contribution of outgoing President Ian Sauer. With 9 years on the board and 4 years as President, Ian has been a tireless advocate for the industry. His leadership has seen the sector through significant challenges, always with a focus on the long-term viability of Tasmanian farming.

The Power of Tasmanian Ag by the Numbers

The importance of this leadership cannot be overstated when you look at the sheer scale of the industry’s impact on our trade and logistics networks:

30% of All Exported Seafreight: Agriculture represents nearly a third of Tasmania's total exported seafreight volume—the largest single sector (excluding empty containers).

A Pillar of the TFES: The Tasmanian Freight Equalisation Scheme remains a critical lifeline for maintaining our competitiveness. Tellingly, 9 of the top 20 claimants of the scheme are agriculture-based companies.

As specialists in freight administration and TFES expertise, we see firsthand how the hard work on the farm translates into the containers leaving our wharves.

We look forward to seeing Tas Farmers continue to flourish under this new leadership. Congratulations once again to Nathan and Felicity!
